ADHESIVE BACKED HEAT BARRIER (Part# 13500-13590)

The adhesive-backed composite construction material can easily be applied to any clean surface. Can be wrapped around hoses and wiring, or applied to electrical and electronic parts to reflect heat away from components. Easy to use for a clean, professional appearance. Ahesive is rated up to 300°F. DON'T APPLY TO ANY PARTS OF EXHAUST SYSTEM. THIS PRODUCT IS DESIGNED TO BLOCK RADIANT HEAT ONLY!

ALUMINIZED HEAT BARRIER INSTRUCTIONS (Part# 14001)

Trim the flexible blanket material to fit the area you wish to protect. The barrier is placed so that the bright metallic surface faces the heat source, reflecting the heat away from the area to be protected. Weather-stripping adhesive is recommended because it adheres quickly and easily. For more durable installation, some applications may require the use of small metal strips and pop rivets to hols the barrier in place. DO NOT use Aluminized Heat Barrier on exhaust pipes!

 COOL-IT INSULATING MAT (Part# 14100-14110)

Trim to fit using scissors or a knife. Edges can be sealed with duct tape. Use a spray adhesive for low heat applications. (surface temperatures of 250°F or lower). Drill 1/4" holes and use the supplied fasteners for higher heat applications. (250°F or higher). The smooth mylar side goes toward the heat source. The foil side goes away from the heat source to conduct any penetrating across its surface, providing the ultimate in heat protection.

MUFFLER/CAT HEAT SHIELD (Part# 16500)

Trim to fit using scissors or a knife. Face reflective surface towards the heat source. Drill 1/4" holes and use the supplied fasteners or use spray adhesive. The use of sheet metal screws or pop rivets with backup washers are also efficient ways to install this product. DO NOT USE ON MUFFLER OR CAT!

STARTER HEAT SHIELD (Part# 14150)

Wrap starter and solenoid (on GM type starters) with aluminized material. Install with overlap that gives a double layer of material facing heat source. Use enclosed Snap Straps to secure shield.

THERMO-FLEX (Part# 17062-17300)

Use razor knife to cut sleeving to length required. Slide on or slit the tube down the side with scissors place around existing hose or wiring. If slitting is required for installation, gently open slit to required width. DO NOT OVER BEND WHEN OPENING! DO NOT COMPRESS BEYOND ORIGINAL DIAMETER WHEN CLOSING!

EXHAUST INSULATING WRAP (Part# 12001-11002, 11151-11152)

STEP 1: Determine the length of each tube by measuring from the exhaust port flange to the collector. (see chart for material required). (IMPORTANT- For each and every bend, add 8 inches more to overall length of material before cutting.

STEP 2: CAREFULLY cut material for each tube and collector.

STEP 3: Using a shallow pan of water, moisten wrap to make more pliable, DO NOT SOAK! Wrap material around the top of the first exhaust port flange and secure with Snap Strap or a hose clamp. Wrap tight, neatly and overlap 1/4". Complete all tubes and collector. NOTE: WHEN TUBES ARE CLOSE FOR EASY WRAPPING USE A FLAT BLADE SCREWDRIVER TO SEPARATE TUBES ENOUGH TO ALLOW MATERIAL TO SLIDE THROUGH.

STEP 4: Thoroughly dry wrap, setting in a sunny area or near a heat source.

STEP 5: Apply Thermo-Tec's Hi-Heat Coating after wrap has dried. The coating increases the life of the material, changes the color and seals the pores allowing less penetration of liquids. (1) can covers 50' of material. DO NOT USE HI-PRESSURE WASH ON MATERIAL! Use a common garden hose without nozzle attachment.

CAUTION: Motor Homes/Towing Vehicles wrap 20" of primary, do not wrap collector. Do not start engine unless in a well ventilated area. Due to processing procedure, very small amounts of oil and residue will cause material to smoke up to 30 minutes until material is cured. Tape should not smoke again after cured. Due to fiberglass like nature of this material, it may cause a slight skin irritation.

RACERS INFO: Because the carburetor is receiving additional vacuum, in many cases, stepping down 1 to 2 steps in the secondary and primary jets may be necessary. Read plugs and adjust accordingly.

GRAPHITE BLACK WRAP (Part# 11021-11022, 11153-11154) COPPER EXHAUST WRAP (Part# 11031-11032)

EXHAUST MANIFOLD BLANKET (Part# 14003-14004)

Step 1: Lay 24" width blanket over exhaust manifold or header. (When using #14004 Kit, fold blanket along the 40" width.)

Step 2: Determine best mounting locations for crimp fasteners. Mark locations with a marker. Locate fasteners so that you can fasten with wire after crimping to material.

Step 3: Fold over marked edge of material one inch (1").

Step 4: Crimp on fasteners with pliers or vise grips at marked points.

Step 5: Lay blanket over exhaust and secure with wire provided in kit. Secure so blanket will not slide down system due to vibration.

Step 6: Lower area of blanket must be secured in the same manner.
